What are Liquid Flat Roofing Systems?
Liquid roofing systems have been on the market for many years now however its new materials that we have that has really made the change.
Most of the new liquid roofing systems use polymers that are cured by moisture allowing the system to be laid in damp condition. This has really changed the game for roofers, as before we used to have to dry a roof using hot air before the new roofing system could be laid. This was not only dangerous but time consuming, forcing up the price of the roof work. Now the preparation is basically cleaning and minor repairs of cracks.

I’ve been working with Steve Dickinson of London Flat Roofing for almost 10 years and to this day I have not come across anyone with more knowledge on London flat roofs. From leak detection to maintenance, Steve has a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of flat roofing.
Our flat roof was previously installed by cowboy builders. Steve did a fantastic job or un-doing their shoddy work and rectifying all of the issues they had caused. No more leaks and no mess either. The price was fair and they got the job done very quickly.
I came back off holiday to find that the flat roof above my kitchen had been leaking and flooded the house. I called and spoke to Steve who came out the same day and within hours he had identified the leak. The very next day he sent out 2 roofers who fixed the leak. Steve then helped me claim through my insurance policy. Very pleased and grateful for his help.
Steve from London Flat Roofing was very knowledgeable. We had several contractors trying to find the issue with our leaking flat roof prior to getting Steve to look at it. After surveying it with a thermal imaging camera Steve was able to pinpoint the exact location of the leak and fixed it there and then. Very pleased and would definitely recommend to others.
Choosing a Liquid Roofing System

Most liquid roofs are formed by applying a liquid roofing materials over the top of a subframe such as ply, OSB or insulation. The liquid solidifies and leaves a durable and weatherproof surface.
Some of the latest liquid roofing systems such as the 3M SD650 system rely on the tensile strength of the polymer liquid to form the roof and no embedment materials are needed as a strengthener.
Is a Liquid Roofing System Right For Your Roof?
Like most things not everything is good for everything and these liquid roofing systems are not that good at forming warm roofs and being laid over roof insulation without a separation barrier, thus leading to additional costs and pricing themselves out of the new flat roof market.
Still the overlay market is the market they were designed for and as the property situation stands in the UK this is around 95% of all roofs.
