Old Asphalt Flat Roofs With Blisters
Here I show you some of the problems with asphalt flat roofs and felt flat roofs. These old roofs have blisters forming in them because of water vapour getting trapped under them.

You must maintain your flat roof as blockages of the drainage system can cause big problems. Leaking flat roofs are often caused by water backing up and overflowing. Even new flat roofs sometimes leak, as the pressure of the water build up finds the smallest of problems with the roof. This is why we like using the liquid roofing system for new flat roofs, as they don’t have any joints that can leak.
New flat roofs using the warm and cold flat roof methods. New flat roofs in London and the UK need to come up to the new building regulations. In this video I try to explain the difference between the two methods of construction for a new warm flat roof and a new cold flat roof.
Hopefully this video will help explain the difference between cold flat roof construction and warm flat roof construction, this video shows detailed drawings on how a cold flat roof is constructed. I link to two other videos, one on warm flat roof construction and one that’s an in depth comparison between cold and warm flat roofs also showing thermal imaging of poorly performing, insulated flat roofs. The animation program used was Sketch Up with lots of section cuts.

Basic tutorial for animation in Sketch Up. I made this video to help me remember the first basic steps. There are some excellent tutorials on how to animate in Sketch Up on YouTube, however everybody assumes we know the basic principle and it took me two days to work out this part. Now I can go forward and advance my modelling.
We show you how we dress Kemper around skylights added to a new roof some years after the original roof was laid. It takes time to dress any flat roofing material around flashings, even Kemper takes time, however one thing we know for sure is that Kemper will stay put, remain flexible and last longer than most outer flat roof coverings.
Part L of the Building Regulations and insulating flat roofs. Part L has always been an issue with flat roofing as some people don’t want to insulate their flat roofs.
This old flat roof above a shop in Pinner was leaking for some time. As it’s a walkway to the flat above, the new roof had to have tiles over the top. This roof was well constructed so we were able to use normal concrete tiles rather than promenade tiles. The roof walls were insulated using Kingspan insulation to a depth of 100mm, then a new decking over the top with the Kemperol V210 System.
The customer’s insurance company made the decision to dress over this new, but leaking, asphalt balcony. The roofing details to the parapet wall and the railings are very poor; the roof was leaking in several places. As the majority of the roof is detail and to dismantle the windows and the railing would be expensive, the decision was to take a two stage approach to stopping the roof from leaking.
