Replacing An Asphalt Roof With A New EPDM Rubber Flat Roof
Replacement of an old flat asphalt roof using insulation covered with EPDM, a skylight and a new insulated tank box. We had to have a tin roof over the roof for this project, because we knew the roof would be open for longer than a day. The new flat roof will be insulted to the new building regulations. New flat roofs today have to be insulated to a very high standard today.

Hi Steve, we’re selling our house and the buyers survey says that the epdm flat roof over kitchen extension needs renewing. We’re trying to clarify what’s wrong with it.
My father in law advises that the following insulation was used at the time the extension was built in the 80s –
4inches. Marine ply top and bottom in between was fire retardent foam as approved by the council surveyor. All purlings were coated with approved preservative. Would this meet current building rev requirements or also need upgrading?
The roof is approx 18-19 sq metres. We live in London E13.
I’m trying to ascertain approx how much the renewal job would cost, including upgrading insulation if needed. I’d be v grateful if you could advise. We need to discuss further with the buyer in the next couple of days. Thank you very much.
Would the cost include sign off for building regs purposes too?
