Noisy Flat Roof London

Hi Steven,

I have a 3 tear old cold flat roof with celotex insulation and ventilation layer. The roof is standard felt with minimal chippings. When it rains it is really irritating as, I’m guessing, the ventilation layer acts as an amplifier.

Is there any way to improve the sound insulation in a cold flat roof? I was thinking of taking out the ceiling and replacing the insulation with more sound proof acoustic insulation @ 100-150mm thickness between joists depending on what I find.

But having watched your online videos, would I just be wasting my time? Should I do something with the roof instead? I have a budget of £3000.
